A40E

The Volvo A40E is more commonly know as off road or rock truck. It is articulated machine with front wheel drive, with rear wheel drive engaged when necessary.

The model is constructed in 1/24 scale and like my other models, entirely out of polystyrene plasticard, including the tires. The model measures approximately 19 inches in length. Blueprints were first drawn using information from the parts catalogue, sales brochure and measurements from the actual machine.

The drivetrain, undercarriage and suspension was replicated, however the engine was not. The cab was completly detailed, and the box can be manually displayed in the up position. To maintain a degree of realism, each wheel nut was individually constructed and painted and the added to the wheel rim.
