Smallwood

After seeing the ship for the first time I could see that it would make a most impressive model and a real challenge to build. The fact that I sail on the Smallwood every year allowed me to take numerous pictures of the detail that I wished to include in the model.
Some of the finer detail on the model include wipers on wheelhouse windows, deck furniture, light fixtures and although can only be seen if you look closely, simulated weld marks are shown where decks plates were joined. Ladders and stairways were all handcrafted in plastic.
The model was built to a metric scale of 1/100, which relates to 1/96 in imperial measure and measures approximately 72 inches in length. It is painted in actual Marine Atlantic colors with the exception of the deck green which I mixed myself.
